Municipio Beach
Description
Piazza Municipio Beach is the penultimate beach along the northern coastline of Giardini Naxos, a haven for those seeking peace and quiet. This stretch of coast is completely free of private lidos, offering uninterrupted public access and a serene atmosphere. Known locally by various names — Piazza Municipio Beach, Lo Scoglio a Due Pezzi, or simply Teocle Beach.
If you're a fan of kayaking, Spiaggia della Teocle is the starting point for some of the best excursions along the coast, with routes extending from Giardini Naxos to Taormina. The calm, clear waters are perfect for paddling, while the surrounding area remains blissfully uncrowded, even in peak season.
Unlike most beaches in Giardini Naxos, Municipio Beach has no private lidos or paid facilities — it's kept deliberately free and unspoiled. You'll find a kayak school nearby for those wanting to explore the coast by paddle, plus the Porticciolo marina at one end.
The beach sits near Giardini Naxos' town hall square (Piazza Municipio) and the Statue of Teocle, the mythical founder of Naxos. It's within walking distance of the Porticciolo marina and the town's Lungomare promenade.
When to Visit
Peak season: July–August (still quieter than other beaches thanks to the lack of lidos). Best weather: June and September. Off-season: May and October — ideal for a peaceful kayak paddle in calm waters. Its uncrowded nature makes it pleasant to visit almost any time of year.
