Pirata Beach - Giardini Naxos

Description

Nestled in a small volcanic bay, Spiaggia del Pirata is one of the hidden gems of Giardini Naxos. Accessible only by foot, it remains a tranquil spot even during the busy summer months. The beach offers a choice between public areas and two private lidos, with amenities like sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent. The crystal-clear water is perfect for snorkeling, and if you're hungry, the Lido del Pirata has a restaurant serving delicious seafood, including their famous pasta with sea urchins.

Because it's tucked away and reachable only on foot, Pirata Beach has a more secluded, laid-back feel than the beaches along the main promenade — well worth the short walk for clearer water and a quieter atmosphere.

Two private lidos share the bay, both offering sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, alongside stretches of free public beach. The Lido del Pirata restaurant is a highlight, known for its seafood — don't miss the pasta with sea urchins if it's on the menu.

The beach sits near the local police station (Polizia Municipale), a useful landmark for finding the footpath down to the bay. It's a short walk from the rest of Giardini Naxos' beaches and the town centre.

When to Visit

Peak season: July–August (still quiet thanks to the foot-only access). Best weather: June and September, ideal for snorkeling in calm, clear water. Off-season: May and October. Its sheltered volcanic bay keeps waters calm most of the year.
