San Giovanni Beach

Sand & Pebbles · San Giovanni
San Giovanni Beach - Giardini Naxos

Description

The coastline near the Church of San Giovanni features a mix of small sandy and pebbled beach, frequented mostly by locals. The area is less crowded than the central beaches of Giardini Naxos, and it boasts a handful of reasonably priced lidos. Most of the shoreline remains free to use, making it one of the most budget-friendly options in town.

It's a great choice if you're looking for a more authentic, local atmosphere away from the busier lidos near the centre. A short walk brings you to Giardini Naxos' historic core, with its shops, cafes and restaurants — handy if you want to combine a swim with a bit of sightseeing.

Despite its relaxed, low-key feel, the beach isn't without services: a few well-run lidos, including Lido Europa, offer sunbeds, umbrellas and refreshments for those who prefer not to bring their own gear.

The beach takes its name from the nearby Church of San Giovanni. It's a short walk from Giardini Naxos' historic centre, with easy access to shops, cafes, and restaurants along the waterfront — ideal for combining a beach day with some sightseeing.

When to Visit

Peak season: July–August (busier, but still quieter than the central beaches). Best weather: June and September (warm, fewer crowds). Off-season: May and October (quiet, cooler water). Being less central, San Giovanni tends to stay relaxed even in high summer.
