Description
Etna & Alcantara Gorges Tour from Giardini Naxos is a coach excursion pairing a quick stop at the Alcantara Gorges with a trip up Europe's highest volcano.
The day unfolds in a few distinct moments:
First stop
A brief stop at the Alcantara Gorges, carved from solidified basalt rock. You can walk along the riverbed with an additional ticket, purchased on site.
Second stop
Etna's base station, at around 1,900 metres, with time for a light walk among the most recent lava flows. Lunch isn't included.
Optional upgrade
For those who book it online, a further ascent to the authorised crater zone at around 2,800-2,900 metres, with CAI-certified alpine guides. From a safe viewing area you may be able to observe activity from the summit craters, conditions and authorisation from local authorities permitting.
The coach heads back towards Giardini Naxos in the late afternoon.

- Group: In winter, a minimum of 12 participants is required to confirm departure. If the minimum isn't reached, the tour may be cancelled even after booking confirmation

- Recommended: Warm clothing and suitable footwear. Windproof jackets and hiking boots can be rented on site for €5 per item
