Etna Craters & Wine Tasting Tour from Giardini Naxos

Etna Craters & Wine Tasting Tour is a full day excursion that pairs Mount Etna's volcanic landscapes with the flavours of one of Sicily's most celebrated wine regions. Hosted by Sicily Stay & Tours, the day combines a guided walk across the volcano's northern slopes with a relaxed afternoon tasting Etna DOC wines.

The day unfolds in a few distinct moments:

First stop

The morning begins with a walk led by a certified naturalist guide across inactive craters and old lava fields on Etna's north side. Along the way you'll learn about the volcano's eruptive history and the hardy plant life that has reclaimed the black rock.

Second stop

From there, the group descends into a lava tube, one of the volcano's underground cave systems. Helmets and torches are handed out on site, and the guide explains how these tunnels were formed.

Third stop

In the afternoon, the tour moves to a traditional winery within the Etna DOC appellation. A guided tasting introduces you to the estate's wines, paired with a light lunch built around Sicilian produce.

The route suits all ages and fitness levels, though the guide may adjust it if weather or volcanic activity call for it.
