Description
Panarea & Stromboli Tour from Giardini Naxos is a day-long mini-cruise to two more islands of the Aeolian archipelago - a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2000. Panarea is known for its architecture and international jet-set crowd, while Stromboli, cone-shaped and dramatic, is home to a volcano that's been erupting almost continuously for centuries.
The day unfolds in a few distinct moments:
First stop
A coach ride to the port of Milazzo, then a private motorboat to Panarea, taking in the Calajunco bay and Zimmari cove from the water. Ashore, there's free time to explore the village and beach, browse the local shops, and have lunch at a restaurant (at your own extra cost).
Second stop
Back on the boat, sailing past the rocks off Panarea on the way to Stromboli, where you'll explore the island on foot until sunset - keep an eye out for the black lava-sand beach.
Third stop
The highlight of the day: viewing the Sciara del Fuoco from the sea, the lava flow where Stromboli's volcanic explosions are clearly visible after dark.
The boat and coach then bring you back to Giardini Naxos late in the evening.
